ABSTRACT

This study analyzes how the characteristics of individual enterprises and industries affect attitudes in the form of company recognition for government's technological innovation support system. To date, the literature on technological innovation has focused on the impact on technological innovation outcomes, and outlined the the ways in which government's technological innovation support system has influenced technological innovation performance. However, there has been little research about which enterprise characteristics and environments lead to different perceptions of government's technological innovation support system. This study starts from this context and aims to improve the effectiveness of future technological innovation supporting policies. Subsequently differences towards government's technological innovation support system are explained, based on firm characteristics and environment. To this end, data from 1,336 knowledge-based manufacturing companies is analyzed in the form of STEPI's manufacturing technological innovation survey data, with reference to the OECD’s classification of knowledge-based manufacturing. The two dependent variables are knowledge-based manufacturing firms' perception of the financial aid policy for government's technological innovation support systems and awareness of the general support system, except for financial support.
