AB - Now we regard the Qing(情) as a feeling or passion in living beings in general. But in the ancient period, it was not just used as a feeling. In fact, the meaning of Qing(情) in the Confucian and Taoism classics during the period of Before-Qin(先秦) Dynasty was mostly used as a true(real) situation or the actual state of affairs. And when it comes to human beings, at that period it was mostly used as people's true feelings, real sentiments and the revelation of one's true feelings. But at the end of Before-Qin(先秦) period, as the society is getting more and more complicated, the minds of human beings were more and more cunning and tricky than former people. So as the result of it, the meaning of Qing(情) has also come to contain the desire, wish and lust in itself. This paper searches for the word Qing(情) written in the every sentence of the Confucian and Taoism classics during the period of Before-Qin(先秦) Dynasty, and examines the meanings of it. Through this work, we can prove the real original meaning of the word Qing(情).
