AB - The purpose of this paper is to analyze and look for improvement points of the ordinance for school libraries and reading education in Korea. For the purpose, the writer analyzed 15 ordinances of metropolitan city and provincial offices of eduction. The ordinance content were examined in terms of obligation of superintendents of education and principals, committees and administration department, reading promotion and education, and school libraries. According to the examination the writer discussed about effectiveness enhancement, operating integrated type ordinance, connections of school libraries and reading education and curriculum, and reflection of information literacy education.
