ABSTRACT

This study aims to propose practical strategies for systematically archiving records generated from exhibition programs operated by public libraries as community centers, and for effectively managing and providing access to these archives. To achieve this, the study analyzed and compared cases of archive-based exhibitions and post-exhibition record management practices in public libraries both domestically and internationally. Additionally, a pilot exhibition archival collection was developed based on the archival exhibition at Library A, located in Seoul. During the development process, the exhibition program was analyzed step by step, and archival information was registered at the collection level in the library’s collection management system. This allowed integration with the existing library collections for unified search functionality. Furthermore, a separate exhibition webpage was built using a free online platform and linked to bibliographic information. The results of this pilot project underscore the need for metadata standards, detailed guidelines, and a shared archival platform to facilitate the expansion of exhibition archives in public libraries.
