ABSTRACT

This papers attempt to analyze the printing-work of the Haein-Temple’s Tripitaka-Woodblock that was printed in 1937. In the process, this paper reviewed the details and main agents of the printing-work, the bibliographical form of the printing-books, and the purpose for delivering the printing-books to the Pu-Yi of the Manchukuo’s Emperor. At this time, the printing-work of the Haein-Temple’s Tripitaka-Woodblock began in response to the Manchukuo-Emperor’s earnest request. The printing- work was spearheaded by the Korea Government-General(朝鮮總督府) that has ruled the Joseon(朝鮮)-Dynasty as a colony. the printing-books were yellow or white paper, and the bibliographical form of the printing-books were compared to the original Woodblock that was printed in the mid - 13th century, which differed in the letter-type(書體) and the existence or absence of the engravers(刻手), along with published information. In particular, the purpose of the delivering printing-books helped to realize the political and diplomatic interests of Japanese imperialism in the Manchukuo. In the process, Korea’s Buddhist cultural heritage was also expanded.
