ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine college learners' perception of cyber English classes. To achieve the goal of this research, both quantitative and qualitative research has been performed. For the quantitative research, the researcher conducted a survey of 114 college students and analyzed the results. The qualitative research was also conducted through six students who volunteered for the research by means of in-depth interviews. This study investigates the following aspects: 1) why college learners choose cyber English classes, 2) whether college learners attend/participate in the cyber English classes regularly, 3) how college learners are to be updated on class-related information/notices and by which channels they prefer to receive it/them, and 4) what the level of satisfaction is for cyber English classes. This study finds out that the effectiveness of cyber English classes and the learner-oriented learning are closely related to the level of the learner's English ability. The study also finds that the learners’ preferred channel of receiving class-related information is through text messaging. Regarding the general opinion of cyber English classes, most learners show positive results except for the problems of system management.
