ABSTRACT

The present study tries to examine how corporate organizations, in the era of information and communication technologies, employ their adaptive mechanisms as a way to adjust to the impact of the “brand-new” digital network environments. Particularly, discussions are centered around five related areas of corporate firms: (1) changes of “value chains” (2) emergence of virtual corporations (3) differentiation of firm size (4) firm's migration at the global level with respect to the investment, manpower and locality of factory, and (5) intra-organizational restructuring. Case studies such as Nike, Benetton, Compaq, Toyota, Cisco Systems, Wal-Mart etc. are cited in introducing each of these five areas in the corporate firms. It can be concluded that some commonalities are noticed although specific strategies of each firm for alteration are differed according to firm's nationality, size or industrial sectors.
