ABSTRACT

This paper is to investigate the world dynamic distribution of informationization using nonparametric approaches. Our finding resultings are: (i) from the absolute point of view, the world distribution of information intensivity in 2001 shifts from low level and a little higher level than that of informationization in 1995. (ii) from the relative point of view, the shapes of world distribution of information intensivity between 1995 and 2001 are, however, very similar to each other. finally, as we find the similarity between the distribution of information intensivity and the distribution of income, there is a poverty trap in informationization such as underdevelopment trap or poverty trap in economic development stage. We conduct a robustness test based on the different bandwidth selection criterion(CV) and find similar empirical results. In addition to empirical tests, we show a tentative theoretical model for supporting our empirical results.
