ABSTRACT

The central hypothesis of this paper is that the effect of information revolution contributes to the changing nature of national competitiveness, which in turn contributes to policy choice on the developmental process. The paper looks in detail at information effects as well as developmental strategy among the conventional wisdom, including economic growth and quality of life. The results show that the information effect to increase national competitiveness is great as much as the gravity of other developmental factors, which leads to the limits of the previous mechanism in the new environment. Admitting both the liberal and conservative positions, the comparative rod reveals policy initiatives in the advent of network society, and suggests policy elaborations in that the framework for information be coordinated with the common denominator of development, increasing national competitiveness.
