ABSTRACT

This paper examines the change of the studies of digital divide. Especially, it stresses the fact that the focus of the studies has changed from the information accessibility to information literacy. Despite of rapid growth of information infrastructure, the existing digital divide had raised the concern of the inequality in term of quantity of information gap. The recent issues of information literacy and knowledge divide had further brought our attention to the possibility of widening inequality in terms of quality of information gap. In view of the high possibility of information technology being used as the ways for better social rewards, it is also necessary to consider the needs and acceptance attitude of information technology in the studies of digital divide.
