AB - This article aims to review the meaning of the Christian view point of Culture focused on the H. Richard Niebuhr's Christ and Culture(1956) as a basis of the Christian Philosophy of Culture and the Christian Criticism of Culture. The Christian Philosophy of Culture has a presupposition of Christian Word-View.
Helmut Richard Niebuhr is famous for us as a theorist of Christian Culture-View. He deals with five types christian culture-view in his Christ and Culture. We called it, so to speak, (1)Type of Opposition, (2)Type of Agreement, (3)Type of Synthesis, (4)Type of Paradox, and (5)Type of Transformation. These types are considered as a classic for Reading Christian Culture. Through the discussion about Christian Culture of Niebuhr's, we will find a new strategy for the Mission of Culture. Niebuhr will suggest a principle and goal of transformation of Culture to us.
