AB - The aim of this thesis is to find out philosophical ground about 'imagination'. D. Hume thought of an imagination as one of philosophical subjects that is core, and regarded the proper understanding about imagination as to solve the difficult philosophical problem. The investigation about fact that imagination occupies what kind of location and play what kind of the role consequently from D. Hume philosophy is to mean work. To D. Hume, what be able to secure an identity over the discontinuation of each impressions is possible through only imagination. Also belief that is necessary connection between cause and effect over the fact that simply comes to give to a perception is possible through only imagination. And belief that is what kind of identical entity called the self (personality) which tie those idea over the concrete ideas is to be possible in action of all imagination. Ultimately, D. Hume's philosophy expect to contribute in expansion of humanitic thinking.
