Purpose: This phenomenological study aimed to describe the clinical experience of adaptation of new nurses working in psychiatry. In-depth personal interviews were conducted from December 2015 to September 2016. Results: Based on this study, the clinical experience of adaptation of new nurses working in psychiatric hospitals consisted of fifteen themes and five theme clusters: “Feels attracted to psychiatry”, “Frustration due to lack of nursing capacity”, “Experiences an unbearably heavy burden”, “Finding my place” and “Developing my life”.
