AB - Yang Myung-hee. 2007. On the synonym in the Korean Language Dictionary. Korean Semantics, 22. This study is to establish criteria of the synonym list in the Korean Language Dictionary. For this aim we investigate criteria of the synonym list of the three kinds of the Korean Diationary. We know that the synonym of the same word is different in the three Korean Dictionary. The criteria of the synonym list in the Synonym Dictionary are different from those of the Korean Dictionary. We differentiate the contextual synonym and the lexical synonym. Korean Language Dictionary have to list the contextual synonym. For this the lexicographer had better make a Synoym Dictionary it shows elaborate meanings and abundant examples so the users can understand the synonym in the contexts.
