AB - This paper defines the scope of synonyms in the Korean language education. With adjectives expressing happiness and sorrow, this paper investigates the semantic and syntactic differences between vocabularies based on corpus and dictionaries. This study can be basic data for high level Korean language learners who want to distinguish the relations between synonymous relation vocabularies. This study also demonstrates that results of contrasitive analysis and error analysis can be applied to Korean language education. Rather than defining the scope and boundaries of synonyms, this study emphasizes the importance of order and instruction method for synonyms education. For this purpose, this study attempts to analyze a variety of aspects such as word frequencies and coverages.
