AB - Korean Semantic, 57. The aim of this paper is to investigate the grammaticalization of final endings ‘-eungeol’ and ‘-eulgeol’. Final endings ‘-eungeol’ and ‘-eulgeol’ have been changed from ‘-eun geoseul’ and ‘-eul geoseul’, which are NPs combined with ‘-eul’(accusative marker) modified by complement adnominal clause ‘-eun’ and ‘-eul’. These constructions, namely ‘-eun geoseul’ and ‘-eul geoseul’ have been used as an object of transitive verb since the 15th century. However these constructions began to be used as topicalized component in the 16th century, and then was changed to connective endings and terminal endings. Usages of ‘-eun geoseul’ and ‘-eul geoseul’ as connective endings and terminal endings were rarely found in the 16th century, and more after 17th century. Examples of ‘-eun geoseul’ and ‘-eul geoseul’ as connective endings and terminal endings were mostly found in the colloquial materials, and this tendency was assumed to affect the colloquial characteristics of ‘-eungeol’ and ‘-eulgeol’.
