ABSTRACT

This study primarily analyzes, from a macro perspective, the concerns of stakeholders in ethnic neighborhoods through qualitative meta-analysis to understand the current situation in these areas.Second, the study explores and discusses the alternatives proposed in previous studies. To achieve this, doctoral dissertations were searched on Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) using keywords such as "ethnic neighborhoods", "foreigner cluster", "Koryo-saram village", "Koryo-saram enclave", "Korean Chinese village", "Korean Chinese residential area", and "Joseonjok village". Ten qualitative studies were selected for analysis. The results revealed two key concepts regarding the concerns and the current situation in ethnic neighborhoods, namely "Formation of Multiple Identities: Ethnicity" and "Ethnic Economy: Ethnic Enclave". In terms of proposed alternatives, the concept of "Alternative Possibilities and Limitations: Ethnic Town" was identified. This suggests that while various concerns and issues were identified in relation to ethnic neighborhoods, there are limitations in the proposed directions for alternatives. Lastly, the study discusses the concept of ethnic towns as a proposed solution
