Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing

1. Name of Journal

The official name of the Journal is SUVANNABHUMI. It means “The Land of Gold” in Pali, which location implies Southeast Asia.

2. Website

The URL address of the Journal is https://suvannabhumi.bufs.ac.kr.

3. Ownership and Management

The journal is owned by the publisher, KIAS-BUFS(Korea Institute for ASEAN Studies, Busan University of Foreign Studies). https://iseas.bufs.ac.kr.

4. Review and Acceptance

The acceptance criteria for all papers are the following: (1) quality and originality of the research, and (2) its scholarly significance to our readership. Except otherwise stated, manuscripts are peer reviewed by the Editors and 2-3 anonymous reviewers. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Editorial Board, who reserves the right to refuse any material for publication.

Submitted manuscripts should be original pieces of work that have not been published in other places or are not being offered to another publisher. Manuscripts should be written in a clear, concise, and direct style, intelligible to readers who may not be specialists in the field. When contributions are judged as acceptable for publication on the basis of content, the Editor and the Publisher reserve the right to modify typescripts to eliminate ambiguity and repetition and improve readability. If extensive alterations are required, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision.

5. Submission of Manuscripts

Submissions should be written in English, 5,000 to 10,000 words in length, including references, appendices, tables and figures. Review articles should be between 2,000 to 5,000 words. All pieces must be encoded in a Microsoft Word file, 1.5-spaced, in Times New Roman, font size 12. References should be placed at the end of the manuscript. The style of the text and footnotes must conform to the style of the Journal specified in <https://suvannabhumi.bufs.ac.kr>. In order to ensure a double-blind peer review, authors are advised to remove any information that can point to their identity in any way from the manuscript.

Manuscripts should be submitted with author's curriculum vitae (less than 100 words), an abstract (150-200 words), five key words, and contact information in a separate file. They should be emailed as attachments addressed to the Journal editor, <chiefeditor@bufs.ac.kr>, with a clear note that the manuscript is intended for submission for publication.
