AB - The importance of CCS technology to cut down large scale of greenhouse gas is getting more and more these days. The process of CCS is composed of Carbon Dioxide Capture, Transportation and Storage. Among these, it is very important to guarantee long-term underground Storage of Carbon Dioxide. The Republic of Korea submitted an INDC proposal to cut down 37% long-term target of greenhouse gas BAU until 2030 in 2015. CCS is included among one of very important tools in Scenario 3(commercialization of CCS) and Scenario 4 (additional extention of CCS) within INDC proposal of the Republic of Korea. IEA and IPCC prospect ccs to cut-down 14% amount of total greenhouse gas of the world. EU and Germany made a legal framework for CCS. But the Republic of Korea has not prepared for this. Accordingly, it is high time that we should prepare for a systematic management of environment to handle leakage of carbon dioxide and legal framework for public acceptance concerning unsafety of carbon dioxide storage.
