ABSTRACT

South Korea is currently in operation for eight Free Economic Zones. As of October 2017, South Korea has installed and operated eight free economic zones nationwide. The total area is 309.73㎢ (0.31% of the land) divided into 96 development districts. The developed area is 22.96% (66.77㎢, 30 districts) of the total area. The area under development is 54.34% (157.2㎢, 37 districts) of the total area. In particular, the untapped area is 22.7% (95.81㎢, 26 districts). This study examines to the status and characteristics of free economic zones in South Korea and Incheon. And I would like to analyze the core of the operation of the Free Economic Zone, Status of Foreign-invested Companies, the competitiveness of the Free Economic Zone. Based on this, I want to analyze possibilities and future of China's Chang-Ji-Tu, North Korea’s Rasun and the East Sea. In the future, if the Free Economic Zone is developed in these regions, what will you learn and what should I refer to. To become a successful economic free zone, what should be taken into aspects of the system and the law, and so on, I would like to present it as an important implication. In conclusion, the role of lawyers is very important. From the academic perspective, it is necessary to review of legal system for China, North Korea, Mongolia, South Korea, Russia, Japan, etc. Lawyers need to work together on the following laws: Free Economic Zone Legislation, Foreign Investment Legislation, Labor Rights, Support and Protection of Technology, Tax and Customs, Immigration and Visa, Housing, Medical Insurance System, Foreign School System, Religious Care, and Cultural Consideration.
