ABSTRACT

The gentle slope deposits in the west slope of Cheongbyuk Mt., Kongju, Korea are composed of ‘lower fossil periglacial slope deposit’ of MIS 6 and ‘upper fossil periglacial slope deposit’ of MIS 4 to 2. The lower slope-deposit layer went through strong chemical weathering and the paleosol (red soil) had been formed on its deposit during the Last Interglacial (MIS 5). As a result of this study, it was revealed that the gentle slope deposits which were composed of multi-cyclic periglacial slope deposits of man glacial ages could been developod in the Korean peninsula, and it could be used in the studies which investigate the Quaternary slope development of the Korean peninsula.
