It turned out in the 1970s that most of general rural settlement in Taean peninsula adopt the classic dispersed settlement type in the embryological aspect and it turned out in the 1980s that a part of general rural settlement in dispersed settlement area of Taean peninsula adopt the agglomerated settlement shape. And the author recognized in recent years that a small minority of so-called ‘pseudo-agglomerated settlement’ applying or changing such a small part of essential elements as paddy farming of ‘mountain behind village and river front village’ (baisanimsoo, 背山臨水) location in traditional agglomerated settlement has been existed in Taean peninsula and many so-called pseudo-dispersed settlements applying or changing such a small part of essential elements as dry-field farming of easy slope of hill land in traditional dispersed settlement has been existed in Taean peninsula". Based on this recognition the author gave an overview of origin, function, shape and landscape of pseudo-agglomerated settlement and pseudo-dispersed settlement appeared in Taean peninsula. The author writed respectively of Korean traditional agglomerated settlement corresponding to the prototype of pseudo-agglomerated settlement of Taean peninsula and Taean peninsula's traditional dispersed settlement corresponding to the prototype of pseudo-dispersed settlement of Taean peninsula based on the author's research results and the advanced studies' outcomes before reviewing of pseudo-agglomerated settlement and pseudo-dispersed settlement of Taean peninsula.
