ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes of regional composition and contents for regional learning in primary geography education from the first curriculum to the 2015 revised curriculum and to propose the desirable direction for regional learning. The results of the analysis and the content of the discussion are as follows. First, in the way of regional composition, it shows a widening horizon method while maintaining the framework of ‘the community → the region → the country → the world → the global’. Second, the contents of regional learning are physical environment (location, topography, climate), human environment (industry, population, city, traffic, resources, life style) and mutual exchange. It is necessary to discuss the desirable direction of regional composition and contents for interactions between regions that are required in the global and glocal era, localization in global context, and deepening of regional learning.
