ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends by applying text mining techniques to keywords and abstracts of geography education articles published after 2000. Through the frequency analysis, the keywords in geography education were geography, learning, education, and region. In the topic analysis, topics such as curriculum, contents of learning, purpose of geography education, research subjects, and methods were derived. The analysis of the abstract produced meaningful results at a specific level, rather than the analysis of keywords. In the topic analysis, however, similar results were obtained in the keyword and abstract analysis. The results of this study suggest that data mining-based research trend analysis is highly applicable.
