AB - This study discovers, through an analysis of the covers and illustrations of Kibyoushi, Gokan, and Yomihon, the form of Gesaku after the modern era, when letterpress printing was introduced. Based on this research, the paper confirms the similarities between Ddakjibon popular novels and Gesaku; the design of Ddakjibon popular novels was influenced by the Gesaku collections that were published in the modern era.
