ABSTRACT

The sharing economy is becoming a new economic paradigm in Europe. However, there is a gap in the growth of the sharing economy even among EU countries forming a single market. In this study, In this study, to identify the growth factors of the sharing economy in EU member states, 10 variables were extracted to identify the growth factors of the sharing economy in EU member states, and the size of the sharing economy (sales and employment) was used as a dependent variable. As a result of correlation analysis, the sharing economy platform, tourists, business and regulatory environment had a high correlation with the sharing economy. On the other hand, other factors such as ICT infrastructure were found to have insufficient explanatory power for the sharing economy. As a result of regression analysis on the size and variables of the sharing economy, the sharing economy platform and tourists showed a positive relationship with the sales volume of the sharing economy, but the business and regulatory environment did not show a significant relationship. The implications of this study are: First, it is necessary to foster the tourism industry as well as foster entrepreneurship for the sharing economy. Second, legal and institutional efforts are needed to prevent the decline in employment quality due to the sharing economy. Third, in order to foster the sharing economy, policy authorities should not neglect efforts to deregulate and enhance social trust.
