AB - Objectives: To report the clinical course of a Taeeumin patient with chronic urticaria treated with Sasang constitutional medicine.
Methods: A 37-year-old woman with chronic urticaria refractory to antihistamines and omalizumab was treated from April to November 2025. Based on Sasang constitutional diagnosis, she was diagnosed with Taeeumin Ganyeol-paejo disease and treated with Cheonghyeolganggi-tang, Galgeunhaegi-tang, and acupuncture. Outcomes included the Urticaria Activity Score over 7 days (UAS7), pruritus Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Chronic Urticaria Quality of Life Questionnaire (CU-Q2oL), antihistamine use, and serum total IgE.
Results: UAS7 decreased from 29 to 2, pruritus NRS from 8 to 1, and CU-Q2oL from 93 to 29. Antihistamine use was discontinued, and serum total IgE decreased from 402 to 100 IU/mL. No adverse events occurred.
Conclusions: Sasang constitutional medicine may improve symptoms, quality of life, and reduce medication use in chronic urticaria.
Further studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness and safety.
