ABSTRACT

This study aimed to examine the effects of AI-based educational programs on South Korean elementary school students using a meta-analysis. The analysis focused on three areas: competency, cognition, and attitude. A total of 42 prior studies were included in the meta-analysis. First, AI-based programs showed positive effects across all three areas. This suggests that AI education not only supports learning but also promotes creativity and competency. These findings imply that AI-based education can be expanded to a wider range of applications. Second, heterogeneity was found in the effect sizes. A moderator analysis was conducted based on publication type (dissertations vs. journal articles), but no significant differences were observed. This indicates that the effectiveness of AI education may be consistent across different study types. Third, a moderator analysis by the number of instructional sessions also showed no significant differences. However, a marginally significant effect was found in the competencydomain. This suggests that program quality and content structure may influence outcomes over time.
