Objectives: Han Chang-ki (1936-1997) who was the publisher and editor of "The Deep Rooted Tree" and "The Deep Spring Water" collected national treasure-level cultural heritage, folk materials, Hangul materials, and ancient literature throughout his life. The purpose of this article is to examine the value and meaning of Korean ancient stories of a total of 520 books of 107 kinds (including works of the same kind).
Methods: The following methodology was used to understand the characteristics of the complaint collected by Mr. Han Chang-ki. (1) To check the total quantity collected, a list was prepared and compared with the original. (2) In the case of major collections, the presence or absence of collections by other institutions and individual collectors was checked. Through this process, the value and meaning of the complaint collected by Mr. Han Chang-ki were confirmed.
Conclusions: The characteristics of the old novel collected by Han Chang-ki are as follows. First, out of a total of 520 books of 107 kinds (including works of the same kind), there are no novels written in Chinese, and all are characterized by old novels written in Korean. Second, the old novel has various characteristics such as feature-length family novels, Banggakbon novels, translated versions of Chinese novels, and printed novels. Third, it is characterized by a book plate of Wolwangjeon, which produced the Banggakbon novel. Fourth, rare copies include the Gibong Hoerok, Dangbaekam, Seo's Yukmyeong Haengjeolok, Youhwanghujeon, and the Ju's Cheonghaengrok. In the future, it is necessary to check and study the entire work.
