ABSTRACT

This study is focused on financial education for multi-cultural families. In Korean society, multi-cultural families are increasing by gradation. But they might be locked in the socially disadvantaged class with alow standard of living due to the shortage of financial knowledge and social maladjustment caused by the rapid change of the financial market. For economic stability of individuals, social welfare and well-being of thecountry, it is urgently required to implement financial education for enhancing financial literacy of the weak and the vulnerable. This study analyzed program management, educational contents by examining financial education programs for the multi-cultural families financial education programs of developed countries for the immigrants, which governments, banks and local community organizations run. Currently, Korean government is providing financial education for the multi-cultural families, so compare Korean financial education with financial education of advanced countries for the immigrants. Based on the analysis result, the orientation of financial education, which Korea must activate, was suggested.
