This study uses a qualitative research method to investigate the migration and settlement processes of third-generation Chinese-Korean women who have moved to and settled in South Korea.The researcher focused on their linguistic capital, notably their Chinese language proficiency, and social capital, which served as mobility capital and facilitated their relocation. This study conducted oral interviews with four third-generation Chinese-Korean women who work as Chinese language instructors. The findings reveal that they actively leverage their “intermediary position” and “incomplete nativeness” to facilitate a stable migration and settlement in Korea. First, they migrated to Korea by marrying Korean men. Second, they used their Chinese heritage to acquire institutionalized cultural capital and successfully settled in Korea by leveraging their fluent Chinese language skills as cultural capital while working as Chinese language instructors. Third, they demonstrated flexibility in responding to the changing Korean society post-COVID-19 and aspired to expandtheir transnational mobility by utilizing their linguistic capital. This study is significant because it examines the migration and settlement strategies of third-generation Chinese- Korean women through concrete cases, thereby raising understanding of the diverse life experiences and strategies of migrant women and exploring the sociocultural implications.

ocusing on mothers’ care practices, this paper attempts to examine the technology around umbilical cord blood rather than analysing it solely as the “political economy of hope” manufactured by modern cryotechnology and its industry. From the moment of a Korean woman’s pregnancy is confirmed, she is enrolled in the routinized prenatal program provided by the national healthcare system, and regularly checks her body and fetus. In this process, mothers encounter a series of choices and seek to increase their knowledge of biomedical technology and other women’s practice in oder to make better choices. Through this practice, mothers embody scientific motherhood and experience anxiety about their choices. Ultimately, they confront the decision whether or not to keep the cord blood. This paper argues that the cord blood is their care labor for their own bodies and their child, as mothers are involved in a cascade of momentous of choices, whether they choose to privately keep it or publicly donate it.

This study explores the organizational opportunity structure that enables sexual violence by analyzing the narratives of university members who experienced or witnessed incidents of sexual violence in the 2010s. Using the gendered organization concept and criminological discussion of white- collar crime, this study identifies organizational elements that enable harm and contribute to the silencing and concealment of victimization. First, status power is reinforced because everyday life in universities is organized around hierarchical relationships and the commercialization of teaching and research activities. The hierarchical division of labor and unequal distribution of resources have enabled the abuse of status power. Second, the intensification of the differential association in white-collar organizations has increased both competition and communal feelings among members. In groups, victims and allies are more likely to be excluded from work or relationships. The differentiated nature of the association blurs the boundaries between public and private relationships, creating a sexualized position for women who are asked to perform emotional labor. Third, the white-collar nature of crime utilizes professional positions and networks to make resistance difficult. The social and symbolic capital at play, which greatly influences the careers of others, indicates that perpetration is either not perceived as harmful for those involved or induces adaptive forms of avoidance and conformity. These findings explain why anti-sexual violence movements and systems exist, but their impact is offset within organizations, raising the need for organizational justice transformations.
