ABSTRACT

This study emphasizes the need to move beyond fragmented views of digital experiences in multicultural societies where digital technologies are pervasive. Migrant women experience digital lifeworlds at the intersection of gender and migration, yet domestic research remains limited. To address this, a scoping review of 19 international studies was conducted using the ‘access-use-engagement’ framework. Findings show that migrant women’s digital experiences are shaped through the interaction of access, use, and engagement, along with individual, sociocultural, technological, and transnational dimensions. Three implications for Korean research are highlighted: reflecting diverse characteristics of migrant women; adopting critical digital literacy to uncover gendered dynamics; and pursuing multidimensional perspectives that include sociocultural and transnational contexts. This study offers a foundation for advancing research on migrant women’s digital experiences in Korea.
