AB - Anticommunism in the Federal Republic of Germany at the beginning ofthe 1950s did not emphasize the antagonism of democracy and communistdictatorship. Instead, conservative politicians and publicists stressed thelong tradition of Christian occidental (abendländisch) defense against an Asianthreat from the Russian east. This imagination of a battle against a dangerfrom the Asian steppe incorporated necessarily some racist elements. This article provides a brief sketch in 12 assumptions of the profile of thisunique form of anticommunism.
