Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing

Asia Review follows principles of transparency and processing standards for academic publishing at international organizations.

1. Journal Homepage

The homepage of Asia Review was designed with ethically and professionally high standards, and so that readers or authors do not mistake it for another journal or publisher. The editorial policy of Asia Review specifies the purpose and range of the journal as well as things to be considered for publishing, such as the criteria for authors and prohibition of duplicate submission and publication.

2. Title Page

The title page of Asia Review has been created for distinction from other journals with SNUAC logo and a separate logo for Asia Review, so that authors and readers do not mistake it for other journals or misunderstand that it is related to another.

3. Peer-Review Process

The process of peer review before publishing submitted manuscripts is stated in the editorial policy and posted on the journal homepage.

4. Ownership and Operation

The information for ownership and operation is presented on the homepage, and the publisher does not use any headings of institutions or journals that may cause the misunderstanding of authors or editors.

5. Editorial Board

The editorial board consists of experts who study the topics related to those addressed by Asia Review, and their names and affiliations are posted on the journal homepage.

6. Contact Information of the Editorial Board

The names and affiliations of all editors and contact information of the editorial office such as telephone number and address are disclosed.

7. Copyright and License

The instruction for authors specifies copyright policy, and license policy is described on the homepage. Accepted and published manuscripts are uploaded on Asia Review homepage and offered for free.

8. Publication Fee

The publishing policy specifies the publication fee so that authors can easily be aware of the cost before submitting their manuscripts.

9. Investigating Breach of Research Ethics and Procedure of Action

The editorial policy states the necessary action of publisher and editors to identify and prevent any breach of research ethics such as plagiarism, citation bluffing, source fabrication/falsification. Once the publisher or editors become aware of any breach of research ethics related to submitted manuscripts, appropriate action is taken according to the procedure set forth by the policy.

10. Publishing Ethics

Standards of expected ethical behavior in publishing are specified in journal policy and homepage. Publishing ethics include (1) qualification for authors and contributors; (2) procedure for coping with complaints; (3) policy for relationships of interest; (4) policy for sharing or reproducing resources; (5) policy for abiding by standards of research ethics; (6) policy for intellectual property rights; (7) policy for post-publication discussions and revisions.

11. Publication Frequency

Asia Review is regularly published three times annually, on April 30, August 31, and December 31. Yet, if these dates fall into public holidays, publication is postponed to the day after.

12. Accessibility

All published papers from the first issue to the most recent issue are uploaded to Asia Review homepage and KCI to be accessed for free. Printed journals are sent to authors, reviewers, and related institutions free of charge.
