AB - This article treated the satiricalness of the love for love's sake in Yamatonadesiko. If consider about the three point, first the sence of value attaching the wealth of suitor, second the eternal triangle figuring as rival in love, third the marriage to the poor in the end, we can distinguish the love for love's sake from Cinderella-motive. Yamatonadesiko what depict the flight attendant to make her rank escalate, is effected on Cinderella-motive. But if consider about three point, first the sence of value attaching the wealth of suitor, second the eternal triangle Sakurako-Nakahara-Higasizuzo, third the marriage to the poor Nakahara in the end, it is the love for love's sake story. And I can find a lot of motif-adoption in How to Marry a Millionaire.
In the meanwhile, Yamatonadesiko is satirizing Japan-society, as How to Marry a Millionaire was satirizing America-society. In modern society, people have the freedom of marriage. So thay ditinguish between romance and marriage, and take a serious view of economic strength in a love marriage. The Sakurako's values that money is the best term in marriage, is one of the exaggeration and distortion about the modern marriage.
The 「chameleon」 make dual strusture that means antique watch & tin toy. Disregarding the money having a extrinsic value, the playwright keep saying that there is a intrinsic value that cannot buy with chameleon. It makes fantasy with Sakurako who have values that money is the best term in marriage, did not choice self-centered but be fidelity on her tender sentiments.
