ABSTRACT

In Gennahon-Wamyosyo, some orthographic conventions of Chinese place names are different from those in Manyosyu. Factors such as errors in writing, shortened forms, general usage, and words corruption itself in place names could be some of the reasons for word irregularities. This study surveys irregularities in the orthographic representation of place names in Wamyosyo, which was published in 1617. Typically, the reasons for word corruptions include errors in copies, changing words, reorganized place names, using two letters, and similar.
