AB - The study aims to develop a more effective theory to explain news translation process by exploring current practices of news translation that is widely published in international news. To that end, this study examined how People’s Daily Online translated its Chinese news into Korean for better readability. It was found that the translated news would be of less readability if the translated version does not have genre conventions of the target sprachraum culture even if the translation process would require abridgment, deletion, addition and modification of the original text.
