ABSTRACT

The teleology of nature that appeared in ancient Greece was newly reinterpreted with the development of human reason and the advancement of technology in the modern age. The perception that nature no longer exists for humans rather than a being with its own nature has become prevalent. However, while re-examining these values of nature, humanity faces another crisis. With the arrival of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the position of humans gradually declined and began to change to a ‘machine-centered society.’ Now, humankind faces with a situation where machines would be given a central role in future society. In this regard, this thesis looks into the machine-centered society secretly found in the process of discussing the difference between nature-centered and human-centered. It contemplates the value of nature and humanity lost in the process of transitioning to nature, human and machine society, and expresses our regret that we can no longer dream of nature-centered values. Lastly, this study sheds a new light on the values of humanism that will disappear with the advent of a machine-oriented society. This article deals with the value of humanism as natural existence and ‘finitude’ and the value of humanism as an innate talent and ‘togetherness.’
