AB - Human technological advancement has accelerated the climate crisis through fossil fuel dependence, threatened ecosystems with non-biodegradable synthetic waste, and deepened social polarization and structural inequality. These crises stem from a anthropocentric misconception of limitless human capability, which disrupts the relationships between humans, ecosystems, and God. Addressing these urgent ethical concerns, this dissertation explores whether technology can be reoriented toward a symbiotic future.
While rooted in ecology, the concept of symbiosis aligns with Christian theological doctrines — creation, incarnation, pneumatology, and eschatological hope — which manifest God’s intention for mutual flourishing. Through ethical biblical interpretation, this study constructs a Christian technological ethic for a symbiotic future, articulated through the interrelated moral practices of care, hospitality, restraint, and hope.
