AB - Prison is one of the literary representations according to a series of political and social oppression after modern age such as the colonial period by Japan, after establish a country and an emergency measure under the Revitalizing Reforms system. The Door is one interesting and valuable novelistic result dealing with the abusing power of the false of the division and the dictatorship system based on the author’s autobiographical experience what imprisoned as a spy suspect. However, this work has never discussed in earnest unlike his other works. But the historical worth of novel and accomplishment of work are not low level as good enough to pass way.
The text is problematic enough to associate a novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich(1962) of Solzhenitsyn which reproduced the reign of terror in the Stalin era through the daily life of compulsory laborers. This work presented the violence of division system and the tragedy of national reality by moving social conditions of the Lower Middle Class into the space-prison and made injustice of jurisdictional authority an issue based on a writer’s autobiographical experience whose involved in ‘writers spy ring case’ which was happened in the time of running to the begging of the Revitalizing Reforms system. The reality of prison that this work brought up is the overthrow reproduction of society of discipline like prison. The issues raised in the work are not limited only to understand for figures in jail and the operation of the judicial system which forced by abused power. In the point of that this work aimed at democracy of the North-South structure for resolving division system, this novel seems qualified enough to treat as valuable case of ‘korean division novel’.
