AB - As the qualification system for cultural arts education was established, a lecture was provided to promote the creative convergent competence of students of art major. However, many art students do not know exactly what kind of classes and methods should be taught in elementary and junior high schools to foster creative convergent competence. Therefore, this study conducted research to identify whether there is a difference in the creative convergent competence of the arts major students and their perception of the creative convergent competence according to the specific art major. we surveyed 382 college students in traditional arts, music, fine arts, theater․film at six universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi provinces. The survey used questionnaires to know the perception of the arts major students and test for measuring their creative convergent competence (Kim, 2016) was applied to them. The results of this study were as follows: First, the students' perception of arts major students was high on the importance of creative convergent competence, necessity of it’s development, and necessity of education for developing creative convergent competence. However, satisfaction with education for enhancing convergent capacity was low. Second, there was a significant difference in perception of creative convergent competence according to major. Third, there was a significant difference in the creative convergent competence according to the specific major. Especially, differences in specific major were significant in creative ability, convergent thinking, and creation of convergent value. These results can help to construct curriculum for the arts majors' ability to enhance the creative convergent competence of the arts students.
