AB - This paper was written to clarify the timing when Choe Chiwon re-entered the Tang Dynasty as an envoy at the command of the king of Silla. There is no historical record of when he re-entered Tang, so the exact time is not known. For this reason, historians have made various claims about it. In this paper, I classified the previous arguments and reviewed them from a critical standpoint. Then, what this paper found and analyzed chinese poem written by Choe Chiwon on his way to Tang as an envoy, and used it as the logical basis for argument about the re-entry timing of Tang. As a result, it was confirmed that Choe Chiwon's re-entry took place between 898 and October 900, which corresponds to the early reign of King Hyogong of Silla.
