ABSTRACT

Children of multicultural families is putting down roots as important members in education field and Korean church. Now, it becomes the responsibility of Korean society and church to help to establish identity of adolescent in multicultural families firmly and to adapt and growth as members of Korean society. This study examined the biblical Hyo(filial piety) education as a device for helping adaptation of adolescent in multicultural families as members of Korean society and church. Adolescence is a critical period for formation of identity. Hyo(filial piety) education for adolescent in multicultural families can be the effective way for support of adaptation in Korean society and formation of identity. Because of Hyo(filial piety) is the basis of Korean culture and core of human education of Korean society. The ultimate goal of biblical Hyo(filial piety) education for adolescent in multicultural families is the adaptation in Korean life culture and the standard of value and the identity formation as the Korean people and people of God through the right understanding of biblical Hyo(filial piety). And the objectives of biblical Hyo(filial piety) education are to learn the fear of God through the respect for parents, to love families and to care the elderly on the basis of the respect for parents, to love neighbors and nation, to protect nature and to serve mankind as a extension and practice of Hyo(filial piety). These objectives are connected directly with the contents of Hyo(filial piety) education, that is Hyo of representation, Hyo of obedience, Hyo of affection, Hyo of continued existence. The plan and practice for the biblical Hyo(filial piety) education on the basis of the goal, objectives and contents of biblical Hyo(filial piety) education suggested in this study is respected to contribute to the identity formation and the establishment of biblical values for adolescent in multicultural families.
