ABSTRACT

This study is to analyze the four virtues of “possibilities of universality of Park Chul Ho’s Hyo ethical system” and identify the contents and relationship represented in the popular songs, and investigate the ways to promote the communications between generations. The analysis of virtues describes that from the four virtues-obedience,Survival, affection, subrogation, ‘affection’ shows considerable appearance in more recent songs. ‘Affection’ virtue of Hyo implies that the relationship between parents generation and younger generation is horizontal and egalitarian and both generations respect each group as equal being, sharing affection. The concept of Hyo is reflected the modern basic ideas of co-existence and harmony of affection, different from those of past. This phenomenon is considered to have been resulted from that our mindset has changed, influenced by Western ideas and the Bible. Based on this, this study suggests to narrow down the difference of understanding of Hyo and expands the communicating idea of Hyo between the parent generation and younger generation.
