ABSTRACT

This study is about ethical thinking in modern fashion which is central social interest in recent days. This study focused on both cognition of Ethical design and fashion trends which can fe produced within the fashion industry and then influence on the wide range of consumer, human and surrounding environment. This study has elucidated the socio-cultural characteristics of Ethical fashion by examining the environment and theoretical background of its emergence. And it has analyzed the ethics discourse, the Ecological ethical view, the trends of highly sensitive expression, and respect for man´s life and dignity. The present researcher has surveyed the concept of Ethical fashion and its background that accepts the socio-cultural paradigm, and analyzed the trends and characteristics of fashion which express the desire accompanying the thinking of Ethical fashion. The results of this study are following. The characteristics of Ethical fashion were mutual-coexistence, friendly-protest, catholicity, liberality. The forty characteristics have been extracted from the examples of fashion-related areas. They are sustainability, universal, recycling, naturalness, ecological, green, slow, well-being, LOHAS, funology, avant-garde fashion design. The researcher has finally presented the possibility of expanding the domain of esthetic expression and the importance of the role of ethos that grants fashion its social appropriateness. This study attempts to create fashion business and at the same time suggests design actions based on social belief.
