ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze the newly reformed English writing test for the Secondary School English Teachers' Employment Examination. To achieve this purpose, this study analyzed the questions of examination in terms of types of item, pedagogical content knowledge from school year 2009 to 2012. The result of this study is summarized as follows. First, there was a sudden change in the number of test items of the English Education section and English Linguistics section in 2012. Next, in terms of pedagogical content knowledge, there were concerns on the students but not on the knowledge of social context. Third, the tokens and sentence length of the tests are not consistent. The results of this study suggest that there should be the consistency so that the students do not be disturbed. In addition, the items on the knowledge of social context should be developed.
