ABSTRACT

This paper attempts to review a historic event through a window of individual experience done by a person named Sang-Chil HA, He made some 50 years lately a testimony that he had participated actively in the manifestation occurred at the night of March 15 in 1960. For this purpose we applicate the micro-history methodology that tries to write a history of ‘possibility’ as much as possible by utilizing private recordings and testimonies etc. that have been traditionally considered as non-historical sources. This paper begins to summarize the profile of the target person and give the totality of his testimony before estimating the historic value contained in his testmony. And we will treat two following questions that will be respectively given one chapter. First question concerns the motivation of his participation in the event. We can derive a sentiment of justice shared among others and embodied into the person in question by studying both social factors and individual ones. Secondly, it is the question about the reasons for his long silence. It becomes possible to verify how exhaustively the horror to an eventual revenge by the public power and the red trauma influenced upon the life of one individual.
