ABSTRACT

This paper aims to propose a teaching method for ‘reflective writing’ that can be applied to actual college writing classes using Shelley Read’s novel ‘Go as a River’. This is due to the awareness of the problem that, despite the proven necessity and effectiveness of reflective writing in college liberal arts education, various class contents that can effectively operate it have not been sufficiently discussed. In particular, reflective writing in college is conducted under various topics such as self-narrative writing, emotional writing, self-expression writing, and reflective writing, but there is room for improvement in that learners continue to write superficially and one-time without sufficient understanding of self-reflection and inner reflection. Therefore, this paper attempted to present step-by-step activities using the novel ‘Go as a River’ as a class material so that learners can sufficiently self-reflect and inner reflect in reflective writing in liberal arts education. This could be an attempt to actively discuss reflective writing in college liberal arts education in a more diverse manner.
