AB - This study analyzes Chinese intermediate learners’ errors involving the Korean near-synonyms nada and naoda and proposes generative AI-assisted instructional approaches. The data consist of 651 clauses produced by Level 3 and 4 Chinese learners, drawn from the National Institute of Korean Language’s Morphologically Annotated Korean Learner Corpus (2015–2022). Based on the sense descriptions and case-frame information in the Standard Korean Language Dictionary, the analysis identifies lexical-selection and case-frame errors, including confusion with saenggida, confusion between nada and naeda in intransitive and transitive constructions, and errors involving nominative, accusative, and adverbial case markers, particularly e and eseo. The findings show that lexical selection is especially challenging in collocational contexts where the semantic ranges of the two verbs overlap. Differences between the Korean verbs and the Chinese expressions 出 and 出来 further help explain these errors.
Based on the findings, the study proposes three generative AI-assisted instructional approaches: context-controlled contrastive materials, Korean–Chinese bilingual corrective feedback, and adaptive discrimination practice tailored to learners’ error histories. This study connects learner corpus-based error analysis with individualized instruction, offering practical implications for teaching Korean verbal near-synonyms to Chinese-speaking learners.
