AB - This study analyzes how the media-related achievement standard ([12Literature01-09]) of the 2022 revised national curriculum is implemented in seven high school Literature Literature textbooks. The learning activities in the media units of these textbooks were found to fall into three types: simple comparison between texts, exploration of medial characteristics and modes of expression, and meaning construction accompanied by critical reflection. Each of these implementation patterns, however, revealed a corresponding limitation: superficial media comparison weakened readers' interpretive agency, sensory excess foreclosed the imaginative gaps readers are meant to fill, and the instrumentalization of literary reflection led to decorative media convergence. In other words, the textbooks tended to merely contrast the surface-level differences between original texts and their media adaptations, to privilege the sensory immediacy of audiovisual information at the expense of readers' imaginative space, and to emphasize technical manipulation in media-production activities in ways that marginalized literary reflection and critical communication. Based on these findings, this study proposes three directions for aligning media education more organically with the essence of literary education: education for intertextual reconstruction of meaning, critical media literacy, and meaning-oriented media production activities.
